Géraldine Vilmen

Post-Doctoral Fellow

B.A. Health Science, Universite Antilles Guyane (Guadeloupe, France)

M.A. Interactions Host pathogens, Universite Montpellier 2 (Montpellier, France)

PhD Virology, Therapeutic innovation doctoral school, Universite Paris Saclay (Paris, France)

Géraldine joined the Sharma lab in September 2019 and her primary interest is in understanding HIV replication and the immune response upon viral infection. The Sharma Lab offers her a proper environment to decipher underlying biological mechanisms and to provide therapeutics tools for future AIDS treatments.

Anna C. Smith

Graduate Student

B.A. Biochemistry, The Ohio State University

Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology Program (MCDB)

Anna joined the Sharma lab in August 2019 and is currently studying the adaptive changes in HIV-1 envelope resulting from in vivo adaptation of SHIVs with the aim of understanding how adaptation confers resistance to type I interferon.

Liz Kairis

Undergraduate Researcher

Liz is an undergraduate Molecular Genetics major with a minor in French. She joined Sharma Lab in January 2019, currently analyzing changes of viral gag gene in serially macaque passaged SHIVs in order to understand how these regions evolve to increase pathogenicity of HIV virus.

Kyle Yamat

Undergraduate Researcher

Kyle is an undergraduate Molecular Genetics major and is currently undecided with a minor. He joined the lab in September 2019 and his primary interest is in learning about cellular defensive mechanisms that inhibit HIV infection.
